Transport Options at HFE
Hefei Xinqiao International Airport is connected to Hefei and the wider China transport network by multiple ground transport options.
Four shuttle bus lines run between the airport and various points in Hefei; the trip takes roughly 70–110 minutes depending on traffic and time of day, with fares around CNY 25. Services generally start around 05:40 and run until between 18:00 and 20:30 depending on the line.
Metered taxis are available at the terminal exits; the roughly 40-minute run into downtown Hefei typically costs around CNY 100.
DiDi covers the airport but requires a Chinese phone number and Alipay/WeChat Pay for booking and payment, so most foreign visitors default to the taxi rank or a pre-booked transfer.
Domestic rental agencies operate desks in the terminal; self-drive requires a Chinese driving permit, making this mainly a local-resident option.
The shuttle bus can take well over an hour in rush-hour traffic, so if your layover or connection is tight, a taxi is worth the extra cost purely for the time saved.
