Getting Around
How to get to and from Gibraltar Airport — taxis, public transport, shuttles and car rental.
Transport Options at GIB
Gibraltar Airport is connected to Gibraltar and the wider Gibraltar transport network by multiple ground transport options.
A local bus runs from a stop near the land border crossing (a short walk from the terminal) into Gibraltar town centre; the specific route number was not independently confirmed.
Gibraltar-side taxis queue outside the terminal; if none are waiting, it is a short walk to the rank at the border crossing. Spain-side (La Línea) taxis only operate on the Spanish side of the border. No fixed fare figure was found — confirm the price before riding.
Most hire-car companies are based across the border in La Línea, Spain (Spanish-plated cars); some, such as Avis, offer airport collection/drop-off in Gibraltar for a surcharge (reported around £30).
The runway sits right next to the land border, so walking into town takes about 10 minutes — but pedestrians must use a designated crossing roughly 100m from passport control across Winston Churchill Avenue, not a direct line across the apron road.
