Transport Options at FUK
Fukuoka Airport is connected to Fukuoka and the wider Japan transport network by multiple ground transport options.
The Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line (Kūkō Line) connects directly from the Domestic Terminal to Hakata Station in about 5 minutes and Tenjin in about 11 minutes; International Terminal passengers first need the free shuttle bus (about 10 minutes) to the Domestic Terminal to reach the subway.
Nishitetsu buses also run from both terminals to central Fukuoka and beyond; the free inter-terminal shuttle bus is essential for anyone using the International Terminal.
Metered taxis available at both terminals; central Fukuoka is a quick 15-20 minute ride given the airport's unusually close proximity to downtown.
Uber's app-based ride-hailing is limited in Japan (mainly Uber Taxi, which hails licensed taxis rather than private cars); GO is the more commonly used local taxi-hailing app.
On-site rental desks with major Japanese brands (Toyota Rent a Car, Nippon Rent-A-Car, etc.); an International Driving Permit is required.
If you land at the International Terminal, don't forget the free shuttle bus to the Domestic Terminal before you can reach the subway — it only runs every 10-15 minutes, so factor that transfer time into a tight connection.
