Puerto del Rosario's small old town and harbourfront are only about 10-15 minutes away by taxi. The island's better-known draws — Corralejo's dunes, Costa Calma's beaches — are 30-45+ minutes each way and only realistic on a longer layover.

Inside the airport

The terminal is compact with limited shops and cafés past security; a landside coffee near arrivals is about the extent of it.

There's no dedicated on-site airport hotel; the closest options are budget/mid-range hotels in Puerto del Rosario, about 10 minutes away by taxi — book ahead in high season.

Fuerteventura is in the Schengen Area, so EU/Schengen nationals face no border check leaving the airport. Non-Schengen travelers clear passport control on arrival as normal; no separate transit visa applies to a same-day landside layover for anyone otherwise visa-exempt or holding a valid Schengen visa.
