Transport Options at FUE
Fuerteventura Airport is connected to El Matorral and the wider Spain transport network by multiple ground transport options.
Local bus operator Tiadhe runs from the airport: Line 3 to Puerto del Rosario and Caleta de Fuste (the main, most frequent tourist route), Line 10 south to Morro Jable, and Line 16 east to Gran Tarajal. Coverage to the main towns is reliable but frequency drops sharply on Sundays and to smaller villages.
Metered taxis queue at a rank right outside arrivals. To Puerto del Rosario (nearest town) expect roughly €10-15; to further resort areas (Corralejo, Costa Calma, Jandía/Morro Jable) fares run considerably higher, commonly quoted in the €35-60+ range. Treat these as rough guides, not quotes, and confirm the meter is running.
Uber and other international rideshare apps do not operate on Fuerteventura; taxis are the only door-to-door option besides a rental car.
Extensive rental options in and around the terminal, including major internationals (Europcar, Hertz, Avis) and Canary Islands-based agencies (e.g. CICAR). Given weak public transport outside the main towns, a rental car is the most practical way to reach outlying resorts and beaches.
If your accommodation is off the main bus routes (common for villas and quieter beach resorts) or you're arriving late at night/on a Sunday, book a rental car or private transfer in advance rather than counting on the bus schedule — and reserve rental cars early in high season, as island-wide stock can sell out.
