Best use of a long layover

A taxi or shuttle bus (around 40 minutes each way) reaches Fuzhou's Three Lanes and Seven Alleys (Sanfang Qixiang), a well-preserved historic quarter of Ming- and Qing-era architecture — worth it only if your layover comfortably covers the drive both ways plus immigration and re-clearing security.
