Faro - Gago Coutinho International Airport is connected to Faro and the wider Portugal transport network by multiple ground transport options.
Próximo bus line 16 runs to central Faro (terminating near the train station) in about 20 minutes, roughly every 15 minutes in summer (7:30–20:00) and every 30 minutes on weekends/low season; a single ticket costs about €2.80, payable in cash on board. The limited-frequency Aerobus (Vamus line 56) also links the airport toward Albufeira, Lagoa, and Portimão for the western Algarve, with just a handful of daily departures.
A rank sits right outside arrivals; the 12-minute run into Faro city costs roughly €15–18 including a luggage surcharge, with a ~20% surcharge at night (21:00–06:00) and on weekends.
Uber and Bolt both operate from a designated 'Kiss and Fly' pickup point outside the terminal, often around €7 into the city center — though during the busy May–October season, driver availability can mean a longer wait than a taxi.
Very well served given the Algarve's holiday-charter traffic — all major international chains plus strong local competition have desks in and around the terminal; book ahead in peak summer as fleets sell out.
In peak season (July–August), skip the bus if you're on a tight connection to a beach hotel further along the coast — traffic on the EN125 can make the pre-booked private transfer or rideshare far more predictable than the timetabled bus.
