The Corniche waterfronts in Khobar (Half Moon Bay) or Dammam are the standard layover trip, roughly 30–45 minutes away by taxi or rideshare given the airport's distance out.

Inside the airport

One of the Priority Pass lounges (Plaza Premium, Cozaya, Wellcome, or naSmiles), or the Alfursan lounge if Saudia status applies and it's currently open.

No hotel sits inside the terminal; the nearest hotels are back in Khobar or Dammam, a 30–45 minute drive.

Saudi Arabia's e-visa (available online in minutes, and in some cases on arrival at major international airports for eligible passport holders) covers tourism for 60-plus nationalities across Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific. Important caveat: in recent years Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended short-term visit visas for a number of nationalities (including India, Pakistan, Egypt, Indonesia, and others) around the Hajj season each year, lifting the suspension again afterward — so even if your country is normally on the eligible list, verify current status on the official visa portal close to your travel dates rather than assuming from a general list. If your passport isn't eligible for e-visa, you'll need a visa arranged in advance — there's no unconditional visa-free transit here.

Transit visa requirements vary by nationality and change frequently. Always verify with the official embassy or consulate of Saudi Arabia before travel.
