As of October 15, 2025, Sri Lanka requires an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) from all foreign nationals before arrival — this is a real, recent change worth double-checking against older site copy. It doesn't affect anyone staying in the international transit area on a connection under 48 hours, but if you're planning to head into Colombo or Negombo, apply for the ETA online in advance; it isn't a same-day airport formality.
Transit visa requirements vary by nationality and change frequently. Always verify with the official embassy or consulate of Sri Lanka before travel.
