Inside the airport

BSB has 40+ gates with a decent spread of shops and restaurants, some open 24 hours, plus pay-per-use lounges with showers if you just want to wait it out airside.

Since April 10, 2025, Brazil requires US, Canadian, Australian and Japanese citizens to hold a pre-approved e-Visa (via the official VFS eVisa portal, ~$80.90, typically 48–72 hours to process) even for airport transit that involves leaving the terminal — there is no visa-on-arrival, and airlines reportedly won't issue a boarding pass to these nationalities without a valid e-Visa code on file. If you hold one of those passports and don't already have an e-Visa, don't plan on leaving the airport. Travelers from the EU, UK, and most other visa-exempt countries can still enter for short stays without a visa.
Transit visa requirements vary by nationality and change frequently. Always verify with the official embassy or consulate of Brazil before travel.
