Best use of a long layover

The Cercanías C1 train from right outside Terminal 3 Arrivals reaches Málaga Centro-Alameda in 11–13 minutes, putting you at the Alcazaba fortress and the Calle Larios old town within about a quarter of an hour.

Inside the airport

The Aena Sala VIP lounge covers the wait for Priority Pass or cardholder access; otherwise the T3 retail and tapas-bar strip past security is a reasonable way to burn a few hours.

Nothing is attached to the terminal itself; Holiday Inn Express Málaga Airport (about 0.7 miles away) is the closest option, with Hotel Málaga Nostrum Airport a little further out — both run shuttles.
