History
Malmö Aviation was founded in 1981 in Malmö, Sweden, initially as a flight school and charter operator, before being reorganized into a scheduled carrier through the 1990s under owners including City Air Scandinavia and Wiklund Inter Trade. Norway's Braathens took full control in 1998 and merged in Braathens Sweden (formerly Transwede) the following year, after which Malmö Aviation became independent again in December 2001 under Braganza/Bramora ownership and built its scheduled network around Stockholm Bromma Airport.
Current Operations
Malmö Aviation no longer operates under its own name. In March 2016 its operations were merged with sister carrier Sverigeflyg into Braathens Regional Aviation, rebranded as BRA, and that combined operation then suspended all flying in 2020 as COVID-19 collapsed demand for Swedish domestic air travel; other Braganza-owned Braathens Regional group entities have continued operating since.
