History

Tropic Air was founded in 1979 by John Greif III, starting with a single aircraft and two employees to serve Belize's tourism destinations and outer islands. Over the following decades it grew steadily from a small air-taxi outfit into Belize's principal scheduled domestic carrier, expanding its fleet and adding regional international routes to neighboring Central American countries and Mexico.

Current Operations

Tropic Air operates a fleet of around 17 light aircraft, mainly Cessna Caravans, supplemented seasonally by a leased de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter, running over 200 scheduled flights a day within Belize (including Belize City, Ambergris Caye/San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Corozal, Dangriga, Placencia, and Punta Gorda) plus international routes to Cancún, Mexico; Roatán and San Pedro Sula, Honduras; and San Salvador, El Salvador. It also offers private charters and sightseeing flights and is not part of any of the major global alliances.
