History
Peninsula Airways was founded in 1955 by Orin Seybert with a single two-seat aircraft and grew into Alaska's second-largest commuter airline, serving remote communities under the PenAir brand from an Anchorage base. From 2012 it expanded outside Alaska via federal Essential Air Service contracts to the Northeast and Midwest US.
Current Operations
PenAir does not operate today. It filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August 2017, was absorbed under RavnAir Group ownership, and ceased all operations in 2020 when RavnAir Group collapsed amid the COVID-19 downturn.
