History

Air Greenland was founded on 7 November 1960 as Grønlandsfly to provide air transport and logistics for American radar installations and Greenlandic communities. It modernised its fleet through the late 20th century, introducing its first jet (a Boeing 757) in 1998, and rebranded as Air Greenland in 2002.

Current Operations

Air Greenland flies an Airbus A330 on transatlantic routes to Denmark, Dash 8 turboprops on domestic routes, and helicopters linking remote settlements, alongside charter, government-contracted and medevac services. Its main hub shifted from Kangerlussuaq to Nuuk following the November 2024 opening of Nuuk's expanded international runway.
