History
NextJet was a Swedish regional airline established in 2002, growing into one of the country's larger domestic and cross-border commuter carriers with ownership that shifted over the years among regional investors, ultimately including the Jakobstad-based energy company Katternö and Air Åland by 2016. It was based at Frösundavik near Stockholm and built a network of regional routes across Sweden, Finland, Norway and the Åland Islands.
Current Operations
NextJet no longer operates: it filed for bankruptcy and halted all flights on 16 May 2018, stranding passengers across its Nordic network, after a 15-aircraft fleet serving 22 destinations proved financially unsustainable. A buyer (the Olsen Group) briefly announced plans in June 2018 to relaunch flying under a new "Air Scandic" brand, but that relaunch never materialized and the carrier has remained defunct since.
